Terms of service
Effective 2026-09-15
These are the terms for using Caravan. They are written plainly on purpose. Using the app means you accept them.
The service
Caravan is an iPhone app for coordinating a group trip. It is free, it is early, and it is offered as it is today. We may change it, pause it, or stop offering it. Caravan is a place to write down and share travel plans: it is not a travel agency, it books nothing, and it sells no tickets and no insurance.
Your account
You need an account to use Caravan, and you need to be 13 or older. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and keep your details accurate, because the people on your trip are relying on them. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Acceptable use
Do not use Caravan to harass anyone, to post anything unlawful, to impersonate somebody, or to share travel details that are not yours to share. Do not try to break into the service, scrape it, overload it, or reach data belonging to accounts that are not yours. Do not use an invite code you were not given.
What you add
Your travel details stay yours. Adding them to a trip is you asking us to show them to the other members of that trip, which is what the app is for, so add only what you are comfortable with those people seeing. You give us permission to store and display that content for the purpose of running Caravan and for nothing else. We claim no ownership of it.
Anyone holding a trip’s invite code can join that trip and see what is on its board, so treat a code the way you would treat an address.
No warranty
Caravan is provided as it is, with no promises. Flight times, delays, drive estimates and arrival times come from outside sources and can be wrong, late or missing, and notifications can fail to arrive. Do not rely on Caravan alone for anything that matters, such as catching a flight. Your airline is the authority.
Limits of our responsibility
If something goes wrong with Caravan, we are not responsible for what follows from it: a missed flight, a missed ride, a booking you lost, or the time you spent. This holds to the fullest extent the law allows where you live. Some places do not allow a limit like this, and there the limit that applies to you is the smallest one the law allows.
Ending it
You can stop using Caravan at any time, and you can delete your account from Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or close the service altogether, and we will give notice where it is practical to do so.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute belongs to the state or federal courts sitting in Michigan.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and for a meaningful change we will say so in the app.
